Who can shop on Get Covered New Jersey?
Get covered New Jersey is a source of affordable health insurance coverage for New Jersey residents who do not have coverage from their employers or have access to other health insurance programs.
Financial assistance is available to lower costs for premiums and cost-out-of-pocket expenses for eligible people.
Residents can also find out at the website Get Covered New Jersey (abbreviated as GetCoveredNJ) to determine if they be eligible for NJ FamilyCare, New Jersey’s public-funded health insurance program. To shop with GetCoveredNJ, you need to:
- You must reside in the United States and have a principal residency in New Jersey.

Follow this step-by-step guide below to enroll.
Step 1: Explore Plans, and set up accounts. Check out savings potential and search for health plans in your region to determine whether you are eligible to pay lower premiums.
Step 2: Complete an Application: Select the “Start New Application” button to determine if your application is eligible for GetCoveredNJ assistance with financial and coverage and whether you are eligible for a particular enrollment period to join the coverage.
Qualifying Life Events result in the loss of coverage from other sources and changes in the household, like birth, move, death or pregnancy.
A certain amount of income (up to $25,760 in the case of individuals or $53,000 for a family of four) is automatically eligible to shop for insurance plans without triggering a particular life event.

Step 4: Choose a Health Plan: When you click”Shop for Plan” and the “Shop for Plans” button, select a health insurance plan from the list. The period is displayed in your account’s dashboard (usually 60 days from the date of your reported life event).
Step 5: Make the first month’s premium: For your coverage to begin, you must pay the first month’s premium in time.
