Maryland Unemployment Insurance Requirements
They strongly advise you to advance your abilities and put yourself in a position to be rehired to hasten your return to your job. To keep receiving unemployment benefits, you must continue fulfilling specific weekly obligations. Your benefits could be delayed or denied if you don’t meet these standards. The following is a list of the prerequisites for claimants:
1: Be Able To Work and Available For Work: Throughout your UI claim, you must be free to work and available for work.
2. Actively Look for Work: To continue eligible for benefits, you must look for employment each week.
You must fill out the Job Contact and Reemployment Activity Log on the Maryland Workforce Exchange with at least three legitimate reemployment actions each week, including at least one job contact, to satisfy the active search for work requirement (MWE).
To keep your eligibility for unemployment benefits, you must finish these tasks. You must finish a one-time registration in MWE before you may submit your weekly activities in the Job Contact and Reemployment Activity Log.
Valid reemployment activities are actions that could theoretically result in you finding work again, including those that lower reemployment barriers. Many of these tasks can be done in MWE online.
3: Submit Your Weekly Claim Certification: For each week you request UI benefit payments, you must submit a weekly claim certification. The claim certification is a legal document that certifies your continued eligibility for unemployment benefits by asking you a series of questions.
The inquiries cover the whole week. You must wait until the DUI’s benefit payment week, which runs from Sunday to Saturday, is ended before submitting your claim certification.
You have from Sunday at 12:01 a.m. through Saturday at 11:59 p.m. to submit your claim certification (immediately after the week for which you are asking payment).
Your claim certification is deemed late if you submit it after Saturday at 11:59 p.m. Your benefit payments could be delayed or rejected if this happens.
Review the questions thoroughly and give accurate answers. After submitting your claim certification successfully, you will be given a confirmation number, so be sure to retain it for your records.
4: Create a BEACON Account: You are required to complete a one-time registration with BEACON 2.0.
How To Create a BEACON Account
You must set up an account, complete with a username and password that you will use to access BEACON 2.0 before you can use it.
You will be at your claimant portal once you check in to BEACON 2.0. You can receive notifications and alerts about your account, such as alerts about any missing documentation, on your claimant portal.
Additionally, you can decide whether to communicate via postal mail, text message, or email. The amount of time it takes for you to obtain information about your claim is significantly reduced because all correspondence will be immediately accessible in your portal.
NOTE: You may use this username and password to access BEACON 2.0 if you created an account in the BEACON One-Stop application before BEACON 2.0 launched.
